11 May Champagne, to toast a meeting
A champagne tasting in the right place can be a truly intriguing experience that engages and delights multiple senses simultaneously. So we thought Thursday, May 3, 2018, when in the halls of Ronco dell’Abate we hosted our first wine tasting, in the presence of a few customers and friends. The initiative was born from the collaboration between Ronco dell’Abate – Como Lake Relais and the Enoteca “Delizie di Bacco” to make enthusiasts of French wine with sparkling and curious neophytes live moments of pleasure and knowledge in the name of champagne.
The maison we focused is Bruno Paillard, a French company from Reims born from the desire of its founder (from which it takes its name) to create a great champagne different from the others. A wine created assembling cru and grapes to capture the quintessence of finesse and elegance that champagne can offer when it is produced lovingly. A very personal style that expresses itself in a light and creamy effervescence, an extraordinary purity and an authentic minerality.
To guide the tasting in the rooms of Ronco dell’Abate we invited Tommy Monari, sommelier and brand ambassador for Bruno Paillard, who let us taste four types of champagne telling about all the peculiarities, places of origin, production processes.
The four Bruno Paillard Champagne that have delighted our palate are: BRUT Première Cuvée, EXTRABRUT BLANC DE BLANCS Grand Cru, BRUT ROSE Première Cuvée and N.P.U. NEC PLUS ULTRA Extrabrut 2002.
Tommy Monari is a young 28-year-old sommelier who is making known his talent after setting a record: at the international school of Italian cuisine Alma di Parma, whose rector is the famous chef Gualtiero Marchesi, Monari became the first Master Sommelier to achieve a score of 100/100, a case so far unique in the whole history of this school.
This tasting, which allowed the guests to visit both the internal spaces of the Relais, including the famous library of Gianfranco Miglio, and the external areas of the gardens with the great variety of plants and flowers that now express their best in the spring, it is only the first of a series of events designed by Ronco dell’Abate to live the atmosphere of the place in conviviality. It was possible thanks to the collaboration with Delizie di Bacco, wine shop located in via Briantea 19 in Como, which has been a point of reference for the territory with great taste and expertise for over thirty years.
